Shakeology is Beachbody’s premier daily dose of dense nutrition.  It is a meal replacement shake that is meant to give your body all the nutrients it needs on a daily basis.  And it tastes great too!

What Shakeology is Not

The easiest way for me to describe to you what shakeology is, may be for me to first describe what Shakeology ISN’T.

Isn’t Shakeology just a protein shake?

While Shakeology does contain 20 grams of proteins and essential Amino Acids, it is not in the same ballpark as Whey Protein Shakes.  Shakeology contains prebiotics, probiotics, digestive enzymes, adaptogens, antioxidants, phytonutrients, vitamins and minerals that are not found in any whey protein shake on the market.

Isn’t Shakeology just a weight loss shake?

No. There are no ingredients in Shakeology that directly promote weight loss, but many people to loose weight on Shakeology.  Why?  Because Shakeology eliminates one reason why we overeat: Our bodies are not properly fed.

One reason we overeat is that our bodies know we are lacking something.  We may be lacking some vitamin, mineral, amino acid, something!  So our bodies tell us to eat until we get enough of that thing it needs.  In today’s fast food options, our diets are often nutrient deficient, meaning we need to eat more and more to get what our bodies are asking for.  Guess where the excess goes and is stored?

With Shakeology, your body is getting properly fed, so those cravings go away, you’re not overeating, and THAT is why people lose weight on Shakeology.

Isn’t Shakeology a Post-Workout Recovery Drink?

No!  In the moments after your workout, your body is most accepting and ready for a post-workout recovery drink, especially rich in protein.  Since Shakeology does have 20 grams of protein per serving, it is better than having no post-workout drink.  However, with all the additional nutrients in Shakeology, it will not be absorbed into the body fast enough to be a valid recovery drink.  I recommend either the P90X Results and Recovery drink or a simple Whey Protein shake for your post workout recovery drink, as both are specifically formulated for post workout recovery.
